CEMETERY RULES AND REGULATIONS

Our cemeteries are a sacred and religious place. All visitors are expected to show respect for the grounds and those laid to rest here.

GENERAL RULES 

• Please help maintain the beauty and condition of the cemetery
• Dispose of all trash in designated containers
• Littering of any kind is strictly prohibited

 PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES 

• No alcohol or illegal drug use on cemetery or church property
• No snowmobiles, ATVs, or recreational vehicles
• No open flames of any kind

 ANIMALS 

• Pets are not allowed unless kept inside a vehicle or on a leash at all times           

 DECORATIONS 

• Fresh grave bouquets are permitted for up to 30 days
• Artificial flowers and decorations may be removed if faded or damaged
• The following items are not permitted and will be removed:
• Toys and stuffed animals
• Ornaments, shells, and hats
• Glass, pottery, or breakable containers
• Bottles and potted plants

 SEASONAL GUIDELINES 

• Spring & summer decorations must be removed by October 15
• Fall & winter decorations must be removed by April 15

 Any items remaining after these dates may be removed and disposed of by cemetery personnel. LANDSCAPING 

• No trees, shrubs, flowers, or plants may be planted on gravesites

 NOTICE Maintenance of the cemetery is challenging due to uneven terrain and numerous markers. Your cooperation is appreciated. These rules apply to all of St. Michaels Cemeteries, St. Michael (located on VV), St. Joseph (located in South Branch) & Our Lady of the Woods (located in West Branch.).

These rules are established in accordance with the Menominee Tribal Legislature and the Diocese ofGreen Bay.

We are in need of Mass intentions, please turn them in during Mass collection or drop off at the parish office. 

Parish office will be open from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary, please call the office first. 715-799-3811

Hall rental fees for funerals are as follows: $175.00 per day (half day/full Day), security deposit fee $100.00, Stipend fee $75.00, Priests gift (compensation) $100.00.

If you're interested in becoming a member of St. Michael's Parish, we would love to  have you. Just come in to the parish office to fill out a registration form and pick up your envelopes. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10:00 am-2:00 pm. If you are unable to come in, you can download the registration form below, fill it out and drop it off in the drop box just outside of the office door. Thank you.

"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the priest of the Church, and let him pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven" (Jas 5:14-15). The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick has as its purpose the conferral of a special grace on the Christian experiencing the difficulties inherent in the condition of a grave illness or old age. (CC 1527).

Sacrament of Baptism: please contact parish office to register and make arrangements. Parish office hours are Mon-Thurs 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you are unable to come in during our normal office hours, please download the registration form below and drop it off with your $10.00 registration fee in the drop box just outside of the office door. Baptism

Gateway to other sacraments and the spiritual life.

We welcome our parishioners to have their newborn children baptized as soon as possible.  Baptism is the first of the sacraments and the gateway to the other sacraments and to the spiritual life.  The Catholic Church holds true Our Lord’s words that the Sacrament of Baptism is necessary for salvation. Baptism puts a special seal on a person’s soul, making them an adopted child of God. The other effects of Baptism are:

• Removes the stain of Original Sin, forgives any actual sins and removes the temporal punishment for any actual sins
• Infuses the gifts of the Holy Spirit into the soul
• Infuses the theological virtues of faith, hope and charity into the soul
• Makes them a member of the Church – the Body of Christ

When parents bring their child to the Church to be baptized, they are making a solemn promise to God that they will raise their child in the Catholic faith.  It is important for parents to realize that the living out of this promise involves their own practice of the faith through their dedication to prayer, weekly Mass attendance and living the sacramental life of the Church. 

Godparents:

Parents will need to choose Godparents for the new baby.   A Godparent must be able to assist the parents in the education of the child in the Catholic faith through support, encouragement and prayer.  At least one Godparent must be Catholic and meet all of the following criteria:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must be fully initiated into membership in the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation
• Must be an active, participating member of a Catholic Parish – attending Mass weekly and living the sacramental life of the Church
• If married, the marriage must be recognized by the Catholic Church
• A person that is not Catholic may not serve as a Godparent, but may take the role of a Christian witness.
